Loukas Morley Biography

Born in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire in 1973, Loukas Morley studied at Cambridge and the Newport School of Art in south Wales. Since then, he has worked with the world of reclamation, his keen vision for perfection amassing compositions in his mind of found materials.

Like an alchemist seeing something inherently beautiful in objects and materials that are thrown away or found by chance and valued as worthless, Loukas is on a creative adventure that takes him from idea to idea, project to project.

He is spare and precise in his work, the stark simplicity of the marks and lines of his pieces offering piercingly humane responses to the inescapable problem of wastefulness peculiar to humankind.

Working in a variety of mediums including collage, furniture and print, Loukas also runs creative workshops that explore the interdependence between people and nature.

Loukas has exhibited widely, including shows in Williams Art Gallery in Cambridge, the Cambridge Darkroom Gallery, the Rowan Gallery in Cambridge, the Babylon Gallery in Ely, the Beecroft Gallery in Southend on Sea, and Gallery 12 in Leicester.
