Gilbert & George Prints

Gilbert Proesch was born San Marin de Tor in Italy, his first language was Ladin rather than Italian. He studied in Austria befor moving to England.

George Passmore was born in Plymouth, England, to a single mother in a poor household. He studied art at the Dartington College of Arts and the Oxford School of Art.

They first met in 1967 at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, it is believed that the two came together because George is the only person who could under Gilbert’s poor English.
