Hiroshi Sugimoto (Japanese, b. 1948) is a Japanese artist who explores the nature of time, memory, dreams, and photography in an unconventional manner. Sugimoto's works are included in the permanent collections of the National Gallery Victoria, Melbourne; Tate Modern, London; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; The Museum of Modern Art, New York, among others. Sugimoto currently lives and works between New York, NY and Tokyo, Japan.
This portfolio was produced on the occasion of the 2004 exhibition "The Origins of Love" at Yoshii Gallery, New York. This portfolio includes the following 9 images selected by the artist:
-An original color print of The Music Lesson. This print, a pigmented color ink-jet print, was specially created and signed by the artist exclusively for this edition. The Music Lesson measures 7.8 x 6.12 inches (19.8 x 15.6 cm.) and is mounted onto a 4-ply Rising museum board of 11.8 x 11 inches (30 x 28 cm.) and covered by a windowed 8-ply rising museum board.
-Eight duotone offset prints on Parilux Gloss paper. These eight prints from the Diorama series measure either 5.12 x 7.8 inches (13 x 19.8 cm.) or 6.12 x 7.8 inches (15.6 x 19.8 cm.). Each print is mounted onto a 4-ply Rising museum board with dimensions 11.8 x 11 inches (30 x 28 cm.).
