Signed, dated and inscribed: "C. Reinhart fec Romæ 1796 | Sepolcro a Falerium città Etrusca ditrutta". The place originated in the 3rd century BC after the destruction of Falerii Veteres, today's Civita Castellana, by the Romans. Outside the city walls you will find this monumental round grave with its narrow arches. As early as 1792 Reinhart had published a series of six etchings with Roman gravestones at the publishing house of Friedrich Frauenholz in Nuremberg..
