High Seas Sailing by American artist LeRoy Neiman ( 1921- 2012 ) is an action packed portrait of a sailing race in bold colors of blues, greens, and whites showing two sailing vessels in rough water battling for the lead. The crew members are all on deck and the boat is leaning into the waves very dramatically . The viewer can almost feel the excitement and the spray of water on their faces and jackets. It is an original serigraph from 1976 signed in pencil by the artist with an edition of 300. This serigraph is a printer proof ( P.P. )
LeRoy Neiman is known for his brilliantly colored and energetic images of sporting events and is one of the most popular contemporary American sports artists. He was the official artist for ABC-TV at the Olympic Games in 1972 , 1976, 1980 and often painted or sketched on live television. With the camera recording his painting progress Neiman interpreted the drama of the Olympic Games and the Super Bowls for an audience of millions. He has exhibited in museums and galleries all over the world and is widely collected. This original serigraph is in good condition with a little wear and tear near the outer border, not anywhere near the image. More photos are available.
