Kalup Linzy (b. 1977, Stuckey, FL) is a video and performance artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He received his MFA from the University of South Florida and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Linzy has been the recipient of numerous awards including grants and fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts; Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation; John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation; Creative Capital Foundation; Jerome Foundation; Art Matters; and the Headlands Center for the Arts Alumni Awards Residency. Linzy’s best- known work is a series of politically charged videos that satirize the conventions of the television soap opera.
