Allan D’Arcangelo (1930-1998). Lithograph in colors, 1966 – Printer’s Proof II. Untitled. Artist signed in pencil lower right. Blind stamp of Gemini G.E.L. Lithography. Measures 26″ x 26″. Unframed and Never Framed..
A limited edition stone lithograph by Allan D’Arcangelo, 26″ x 26″, signed with the Gemini blindstamp at the lower right. The edition size was 60. Never Framed.
In this untitled print D’Arcangelo plays a visual joke on the very concept of flatness and dimensionality. The Spartan road imagery that the artist is so known for is removed by a highly distilled trompe l’oeil square cut into the picture plane. Allan D’Arcangelo’s (1930 – 1998) reputation as a Pop artist was established in 1963 with his series of paintings of American highways and signs. His paintings are in the permanent collections of the Tate Gallery, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Walker Art Center, the Butler Institute of American Art and many others.
Condition: The print is untouched with full margins, very good condition, and has never been framed.
