A fine early impression of this rare print, in the first state of two, printed with plate tone and wiping marks, with the platemark always visible and thin margins at the right and at the left side. In excellent condition.
This print is the only one by the artist that reproduces a specific painting: the altarpiece executed between 1587 and 1590 for the Milanese church of San Fedele, today preserved in the Borromeo Collection at the Isola Bella.

Procaccini was a successful fresco painter, whose work decorated churches from North Emilia to Italian Switzerland, and a great draftsman; he made only six etchings, a limited production which demonstrates the impressive stylistic evolution.
