A richly printed hard-edged abstract aquatint inspired by mid-century modernism and Jazz album covers of the 1960s and ’70s.  The print is hand-printed in rich red ink on 100% cotton rag paper, hand-signed in pencil, lower right corner.  The image size is 18″ x 18″.

Joanne Freeman received a B.S. in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. in Studio Art from NYU. She has shown her work extensively in solo and group shows and selected one-person shows include: Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, New York, NY. 490 Gallery, Brooklyn, NY. University of Maine Museum of Art, Portland Me., Lohin Geduld Gallery NYC, Au 9, Galerie d’art, Casablanca, Morocco, The Bess Cutler Gallery, New York and Santa Monica CA., Marc Jancou Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland, White Columns, New York, NY. and The Queens Museum, Flushing, NY. In 2013 she curated the group show “WIT” at the Painting Center in New York and in 2012 co-curated with Kim Uchiyama “Color-Time-Space” at the Lohin Geduld Gallery in New York, Janet Kurnatowski Gallery, Brooklyn NY and Hofstra University. “I think about the play of light on the geometry of the city, and the graphics of mid-century media.”
