Following a devastating AIDS diagnosis in 1988, Keith Haring collaborated with author William S. Burroughs to capture his – and New York’s – struggle with the disease. The result: the Apocalypse series comprising of ten artworks accompanied by ten sets of text. Although ‘Apocalypse V’ differs from the visual language Haring ordinarily communicates in, his bold use of colour, street art style and depiction of themes such as death, love and sexuality remain at the forefront of the work. These factors ensure ‘Apocalypse V’s’ value as an investment piece from a pivotal year in the artist’s life.
