Additional Information: This original woodcut is hand signed in pencil “Lyonel Feininger” at the lower left margin.
Our impression is one between 30 and 35 unnumbered (as issued) impressions on thin Japan paper.
It was published for the Gessellschaft der Erfurter Museumsfreunde, Erfurt [Friends of Erfurt Museum Society] in 1927

Other impressions of this work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Kunsthalle, Bremen. The subject is also known as ‘Alte Häuser in Paris’ [Old Houses in Paris] and ‘Pariser Strasse’ [Parisian Street].

Lyonel Feininger

German-American printmaker, cartoonist, painter, musician and and photographer Lyonel Feininger was a leader of the Cubo-Expressionist movement and one of the founding members of the experimental Bauhaus school.
