A wealth of accumulated ideas have created the strong sense of legacy that features in Marianne Nix’s work. Her pieces are often centred around her local landscapes and the history behind the geographical location. Her works take inspiration from those that lived there before her such as Henry Moore, Piet Mondrian, Keats and Sigmund Freud.
Nix weaves with a variety of media including oil paint, traditional printmaking, impasto and photography create works that have depth and complex sensitivity to her subjects.
The artist first graduated in Fashion Design from The University of Gloustershire in 1982, before completing an MA in Digital Interactive Media at Middlesex University, London in 1999. Nix has lived and worked in a variety of settings. Having grown up in the UK and Netherlands, she lived and worked in Japan as a Director/Producer of cultural video documentaries for NHK Japan Broadcasting.
Nix’s Works are held widely in international collections including Victoria & Albert Museum London Print collection. as well as private collections in the UK, Norway, Italy, Germany, USA, Canada, Australia.
Selected for exhibition with the Printmakers Council in various UK exhibitions, the Mall Galleries (2012), The Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (2016), the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2012, 2013), and the Victoria & Albert museum print collection London.
