Additional Information: This original lithograph with watercolour is hand signed in pencil by the artist “HMPechstein” at the lower right margin. It is hand dated in pencil next to the signature “1923”. It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 45, at the lower left margin. It was published in 1923 in a limited edition of 45, each hand painted with watercolour by the artist.

The Artist

Max Pechstein

Hermann Max Pechstein was a German painter and graphic designer, who was born in Zwickau in 1881 and died in Berlin in 1955. He belonged to the group Die Brücke (he joined in 1996) and he is considered one of the most important representatives of German Expressionism. He mostly painted portraits, landscapes and still lifes.
