The work of Nicholas Party (b. 1980) utilises smooth forms, painterly precision and a vibrant colour palette to revitalize traditional artistic genres such as portraiture, still life and landscape. Straddling the boundary between representation and abstraction, his visual language presents a nuanced understanding of line and colour explored through a surreal, simplistic aesthetic. Untitled (2016) continues this investigation, using simplistic line and gestural mark-making to energise the classic portrait. Acrylic on Xerox, uniquely painted. This work is sold unframed.
