A fantastic and wonderfully expressive figural sculpture from the very small edition of 50. In this piece Picasso reduces the figure to its most basic and expressive state. The sense of simplicity is amplified by the crisp white surface of the natural white clay. The piece features an expressive sense of movement, as if the figure was captured while walking or dancing. The interest in simplicity, sometimes referenced as primitivism, reflects Picasso’s modern sensibility and interest in decorative reduction.
