I Have Found a Song is a fascinating collection of poems and images published to mark the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act.

It originated in a commission from Arts Council England for 12 poets to write on the theme of enslavement. As a result, we published this richly diverse selection of poems. Interspersed with these are exciting visual contributions by five artists invited by Enitharmon to produce work on the same theme.

This de luxe edition, in a maroon cloth-covered solander box,  is limited to 35 copies, each accompanied by a portfolio of 5 signed original prints:

Paula Rego ‘Death Goes Shopping‘ (Etching with Aquatint, 460 x 555mm)
Sonia Boyce ‘Is this love that I’m feeling?‘ (Etching, 395 x 490mm)
Hew Locke ‘Lost World‘ (Lithograph, 555 x 460mm)
Chris Steele-Perkins ‘Children Scavenging in Karachi‘ (Lithograph, 460 x 555mm)
Shanti Panchal ‘Handkerchief Seller‘ (Digital print, 460 x 555mm)

Each artist has also contributed additional sequences of images reflecting on enslavement in its many forms. Consequently, this is an important volume, one of gravity and substance. It is also a rich and fascinating collection of contemporary art. A regular edition of the book is available here.

Patience Agbabi, Polly Atkin, Valerie Bloom, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, Fred D’Aguiar, Helen Dunmore, Bernardine Evaristo, Paul Farley, Jacob Sam-La Rose, Iain Sinclair, Hugo Williams, Benjamin Zephaniah
