Brush-drawn aquatint with etching in colours. c.1938. Signed in pencil. Numbered in pencil from the edition of 200 impressions. Printed in Paris; studio not known. Published by Bernheim Jeune, Paris c.1938. Note: Dufy found some of his most typical themes in and around Nice in the South of France. This study of the Promenade des Anglais, with its famous palm trees and the original early 20th century amusement pier (which was demolished during the War) epitomizes the celebration of light and relaxed life which is central to his post-war art. Excellent impression with very strong colours. On pale cream stiff wove paper. Excellent fresh condition. Full margins. Plate: 445x536mm.
