Note:. This sculpture by Surrealist master Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) depicts the artist’s vision of Marcus Ulpius Trajan mounted on a sleek warhorse, with the staff of command in his right hand and wearing a crown of laurels. Trajan rides slowly and silently towards his destiny to reign as a just and noble Emperor of Rome.
