Inspired by British Francis Bacon's emotionally-charged imagery, Takashi Murakami creates this set of prints featuring Isabel Rawsthorne, Bacon's life-long friend and fellow artist, and George Dyer, the artist's lover. While Bacon often painted his portraits in a stylized, blurred manner, Murakami interprets the subject matter with his Superflat aesthetic. Not only that he managed to include many jellyfish eyes on both figures, Mr. DOB is also seen on the edge of both prints, connecting the two.
The present lot is comprised of the following two works: (1) Homage to Francis Bacon (Study for Head of Isabel Rawsthorne and George Dyer) (Isabel Rawsthorne); and (2) Homage to Francis Bacon (Study for Head of Isabel Rawsthorne and George Dyer) (George Dyer)
Both prints are sold unframed in beautiful condition. Please contact the gallery with any questions or to request high res images.
