Monumental Portal, plate 27 from Architectura von Ausztheilung Symmetria und Proportion der fünff Seulen, a set of five title-plates and 193 plates published in five booklets
Etching, 1593-8. Guilmard I, 378, 70; Andresen II, 254 ff; Hollstein 17. There were five publications within five years of the first book, each with a different title and number of plates and combining new with previous plates. Numbering began in the third edition of 1598. Clearly Dietterlin’s imaginative architectural designs were much in demand.
A very fine impression with margins all round. Some finger prints in these, a couple of short printer’s creases, otherwise in good condition. 250 x 184mm.
