William Kent, (Amer., 1919-2012) Owl on Triangle Shape, Slate Print, 1963, printed 1966, Ed. at least 30, 14-1/2 x 14-3/4, on fabric 16-1/2 x 17-3/8, signed and dated in black ball point pen, on printed fabric with a pattern of blue, pink and lavender butterflies and roses with gray lacey hearts against a white background. Pale foxing within image and margins, and slight traces of tape residue from previous mount. In addition to his political protest themes, William Kent also produced prints which examined human sexuality and mores, as well as a large number of prints on the themes of nature and ecology. Kent had an abiding fascination with and love for the diversity of life on our planet, and these prints often exhibit a protective tenderness and awe at the beauty of their varied forms.
