EDITIONS/ARTISTS’ BOOKS FAIR EXPANDS AND MOVES TO THE WATERFRONT NEW YORK TUNNEL DURING NEW YORK’S PRINT WEEK

NEW YORK, NY (September 8, 2015) – The Editions/Artists’ Books (E/AB) Fair–New York’s prominent showcase for contemporary art publishers and dealers, presenting prints, multiples and artists’ books– today announced its move to New York’s iconic Waterfront Tunnel. More than 50 exhibitors will showcase the works of mid-career and emerging artists, offering savvy and discerning art enthusiasts the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and enable them to buy prints, multiples and artists books.
The Fair is slated to take place November 5 – 8, during New York Print Week and coincides with its sister fair, the IFPDA’s Print Fair. “We were thrilled with the response from both exhibitors and visitors to last year’s Fair,” says Dusica of the Lower East Side Printshop – the organization that took over the management of the beloved fair last year. Year upon year E/AB Fair engages the public and builds awareness about, and an audience for, prints and multiples. “We are continuing to offer free educational programming and free entry to the fair so that others can experience all that the artists and publishers have to offer.”
PACE Prints Director Jeff Bergman, curator of the 2015 Fair adds, “E/AB Fair is a smaller and more convivial fair [than the IFPDA] and it has become an institution in the print world, calling together the spectrum of publishers, printers, book binders, and dealers who represent our community within the greater art world. Year after year, the group of exhibitors shifts, but a focus on innovative and historic multiples remains a steadfast goal. I was delighted to be invited to curate this year’s installment as the fair highlights the hard-work and ingenuity of my colleagues and the caliber of the work exhibited is consistently excellent.”
Among this year’s returning participating publishers are such notable organizations as the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University (New York, NY) and Black Shamrock Etchings (Chicago, IL), to rising stars 10 Grand (Brooklyn, NY) and Shore Publishing (Tuxedo Park, NY). Following on the heels of last year’s successful debut under new ownership, new presses and dealers were eager to join the fold, including Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE) (Bay Shore, NY) and Burnet Editions (New York, NY). ABOUT THE FAIR
Editions/Artists’ Books Fair is New York’s premier showcase for contemporary publishers and dealers, presenting the latest and greatest in prints, multiples, and artists’ books. The Fair is well known for its vibrant energy thanks to its innovative international exhibitors, and hundreds of artists shown.
Founded in 1998 by Susan Inglett of I.C. Editions, in partnership with Brooke Alexander Editions and Printed Matter, the Fair is now presented by the venerable non-profit organization, the Lower East Side Printshop. E/AB was the first fair to offer FREE admission, initiated with the intent to introduce a broad public to contemporary prints, multiples, and artists’ books. Seventeen years later the Fair continues to do just that.
ABOUT THE LOWER EAST SIDE PRINTSHOP
Founded in 1968 by artist and educator Eleanor Magid as an open access art and community center, the Lower East Side Printshop, has become a premier not-for-profit printmaking studio in New York City that helps contemporary artists create new artwork to further advance their careers. The Printshop provides 24-hour studio use, workspace residency programs, stipends, technical assistance, career development programs and public exposure for artists. With its exhibitions, open studios, education, and other public programs, the Printshop serves as a junction for artists, collectors, museums, galleries, and educational institutions to access and engage in contemporary art. With over 140 artists served each year, the Printshop is the largest print workspace in the U.S.
Established Printshop artists include: Kiki Smith, Nancy Spero and Leon Golub, Philip Taaffe, Robert Longo, Barbara Kruger, Juan Sanchez, and Colab among many others. Some recent collaborations include: Derrick Adams, Mark Bradford, Sebastiaan Bremer, Ryan McGinness, Enoc Perez, Dread Scott, Kara Walker and Hank Willis Thomas.
