Nan Goldin Prints
Goldin was born in Washington, D.C. to a middle-class Jewish family and was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended Lexington High School and then enrolled at the Satya Community School in Lincoln, there she was introduced to photography by a teacher. Goldin held her first solo show in 1973.
Her 2006 exhibition 'Chasing a Ghost' included moving pictures, a fully narrative score, a voice over and a harrowing set of slides named 'Sisters, Saints & Sybils' which focused on the suicide of her sister Barbara. She won the Hassellblad Award in 2007.
