Nigel Lambourne Biography

Nigel Lambourne was born in London and trained at the Royal Collage of Art as an engraver and lithographer.

He worked for some years as a free-lance illustrator and designer. Commissions ranged from the Central Office of Information and Design Research Unit projects to private press illustration.
Print making in both wood and metal has also featured in his book work.

Illustrated texts have included the ‘Short Stories’ of Maupasssant; ‘The Brothers Karamazov’; Kafka’s ‘The Trial’; and the ‘Georgics’ of Virgil, with the original engravings printed directly from the plates.
He held five one-man exhibitions in London consisting of work in pastel, watercolours and combined process prints.

Works have been purchased by the Arts Council, Contemporary Art Society, National Galleries of Australia and New Zealand, and the Museum of Modern art, New York.
