Davis was born in Virginia in 1970. He received his BFA from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he taught for 10 years and he is also a recipient of the 2004 and 2007 Chicago Artadia Grant awards.
Since his first solo show in New York last September at Half Gallery, Robert Davis has had solo exhibitions at Retrospective Gallery (Hudson, NY) and Bill Brady KC (Kansas City, MO). Other solo exhibitions were held at Luce Gallery (Turin, Italy) and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. He was featured among Rashid Johnson and Henry Taylor in George Nakashima: in conversation at Untitled Gallery earlier this spring, and has been in group exhibitions at Dodge Gallery in New York and the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA.
Davis currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
