About the Artist: I Putu Adi Suanjaya, professionally known as Suanjaya Kencut (b. 1994, Badung, Bali), is an Indonesian visual artist celebrated for his vibrant paintings, sculptures, and installations. A graduate of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta (2012), Kencut merges his Balinese roots—steeped in traditional carving, ceremonial rituals, and ornate textiles—with a contemporary minimalist sensibility.
His best-known signature: expressionless dolls with button eyes, set against flat, bold, color-driven environments. These figures invite viewers to infuse their own interpretations, acting as mirrors for shared human emotions. Through rhythmic patterns and vivid hues, Kencut reimagines Balinese cultural motifs into a universal meditation on connection and empathy.
His work has been showcased in solo exhibitions across the globe, including I Trip Therefore I Am (Los Angeles, 2025), Pop Fractal (Jakarta, 2024), Beyond The Wall (Seoul, 2024), and Re-Charge (Dubai, 2024). He has also contributed to esteemed group exhibitions in Madrid, Dubai, Berlin, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
