With its sinuous lines and psychologically suggestive imagery, this print captures a Symbolist period in Geiger’s work. The bed afloat on heaving waters perfectly captures the sense of insomnia, bringing to mind Max Klinger’s seventh plate from A Glove, “Fears”, or “Ängste”.
A fine impression, printed on simile japon. Signed and dated in pencil, dedicated to “Lulu VI. 03” in the plate. A tiny illegible inscription in pencil lower left begins “Heinz…”, possibly the printer. A couple of brown spots on verso not affecting the recto, otherwise in very good condition.
