Six from a set of eight. The title plate in the third state of six, as published in 1642, the other plates in the second state, completed and with rounded corners.

Fyt (or Fijt) was a prominent Flemish still life, animal and flower painter. While he was fond of trophy paintings, or assemblages of dead animals after a hunt, in his etchings he displayed great powers of observation of live animals and a light and charming touch. His dogs scratch, strain at the leash, mate and sleep in a thoroughly realistic fashion.
Fine impressions, H. 14 trimmed on the platemark, the others with small margins. Plates 10 and 11 with made-up lower left corners, some other corners thin. Generally in good condition. 158 – 170 x 215 – 238mm.
