
1869–1952
William Lee-Hankey was British painter and printmaker. He studied in Chester School of Art under Walter Schroeder and then in Royal Collage of Art in London. That was followed by travels to France where he studied other artists and focused on depicting rural families and scenes and landscapes.
He exhibited in Royal Academy in London, The Fine Art Society and the Leicester Galleries among others. In 1907 he was awarded a Gold Medal at the Barcelona International Exhibition.
During World War I he served with the Artists’ Rifles, a volunteer regiment of the British Army.
From 1947–50 he was vice-president of the Royal Watercolour Society.
He died in 1952 in London.
