Q7. If you could own any one particular artwork, regardless of value, what would it be (title, artist), and why?

Richard Hamilton’s 1956 work ‘Just What Is It That Makes Today’s Homes So Different, So Appealing?’. Not necessarily for aesthetic reasons but due to it’s position as a seminal work of Pop art.
Q8. Who is your favourite artist of all time, and why?
Andy Warhol. The vision he had and the image that he created was second to none. What many forget is that one of the most valuable societal inventions of the 20th Century was the democratisation of culture, and whilst Andy was by no means the founder of the Pop art movement, his spirit and drive firmly encapsulated the movement. Even looking around us today – Instagram / Big Brother / advertising / commercialisation / celebrity endorsements – it’s all so Warholian. Andy predicted all of this almost 70 years ago and everyone was laughing at him.

Q9. What are some of the recent acquisitions made by your gallery?
Our sister company, Baldwin Acquisitions, has just launched its first ‘Artwork Acquisition Vehicle’, and so we’re busy building up the seed portfolio for that. It’s focused on blue chip contemporary prints – so lots of Warhol, Hirst, Kusama, Hockney, Koons and others.

Q10. What advice would you offer print collectors in building a collection or simply buying prints?
Be patient. Building a collection is a passion hobby, which takes time. It’s very easy to just buy everything you see, it’s a lot harder to curate a thoughtful, composed collection.
