Undertaken whilst Neiland was acting Keeper of the Royal Academy of Arts, London and was visiting Dubai with the Curator of the RA Schools to promote the RA Schools and its facilities. Whilst in Dubai, Neiland enjoyed sketching the boats in the port and “Dhow” encapsulates the warmth and movement of the busy seascape in the morning. This beautiful work was gifted to Neiland’s Personal Assistant in thanks for a productive end of term and is inscribed: “To Mychel with my best wishes and my thanks Brendan 17.08.00”.
