Painter and printmaker Brian Davis was born in Burbank, California, in 1946. Following his time in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969, Davis attended California State University, Los Angeles, but left in his senior year to pursue art. Primarily self-taught, he uses a variety of techniques to achieve the large, luminescent floral images he is known for.
