Christian Marclay has made repeated visits to Graphicstudio researching and exploring several new projects including a series of unique paper pieces with silkscreen printed onto painted backgrounds. Continuing his exploration of collage and the visualization of sound these unique works utilize imagery from Manga and onomatopoeic words evoking the sound of painting actions.
Christian Marclay is an artist and composer whose innovative work explores the relationships and connections between sound and images using a wide range of media, including hybrid objects, installation, video, sound collage, photography, and performance. He is a pioneer in experimenting and performing with records and turntables. He was born in California, raised in Switzerland, and now works between New York and London. He has an extensive exhibition and performance record, including solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C.; the Venice Biennial; and the Kunsthaus, Zurich. He is represented by the Paula Cooper Gallery in New York and White Cube in London. He was also the 2011 winner of the prestigious Gold Lion at the Venice Biennale for his film The Clock.
