Williams, who lives outside of the city of Paris, works primarily in charcoal drawing.  In 2018, he co-published two color polymer gravures with Flatbed using a drawing as the image source.  The etching was created with a color relief plate and a la poupeé wiping technique to achieve the gradation of hues.  His subject, the City of Paris, is shown from a distance at night to be more luminous as the moon.

The Artist

Danny Williams

Danny Williams received his MA in painting from the University of Iowa. He is the recipient of the Fulbright-Hayes Grant for Art Studies, for which he traveled to India for a year to study art. Williams also received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and the Otis Dozier Travel Grant from the Dallas Museum of Art. His work was exhibited at the 38th Corcoran Biennial of American Painting at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC, and the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Monfort l’Amaury, France. The Belo Corporation’s collection of Williams’s pieces are a great example of the geometric abstraction utilized in most of his work.
