First and only edition of this tribute to Vuillard, one of the great painter-printmakers of the Nabi (or “Revue Blanche”) group.

ILLUSTRATED WITH FIVE ORIGINAL ETCHINGS BY VUILLARD, four of which are printed full-page and hors-texte. Vuillard made only seven etchings, and of the five printed here, only one had (or has) ever been printed elsewhere.

Beautifully printed on fine Marais wove paper (with the suite on Arches wove paper) by Jean-Gabriel Daragnès, one of the great printer-illustrators of the 20th century.

Folio. Original wraps. Uncut, bright, and fine.

The Artist & the Book 319; Roger-Marx 61, 62, 64, 65, and 66.

The Artist

Edouard Vuillard

Jean-Édouard Vuillard was a French painter, decorative artist and printmaker. From 1891 through 1900, he was a prominent member of the Nabis, making paintings which assembled areas of pure color, and interior scenes, influenced by Japanese prints, where the subjects were blended into colors and patterns.
