Nick Smith is a contemporary British artist who deconstructs images into colour swatches, which he then reassembles and juxtaposes with lines of text, in this case from Pablo Picasso’s painting Femme au beret et à la robe a carreaux (Marie-Therese Walter). The original painting sold for £49,827,000 in February 2018. Smith has recreated the painting using 414 coloured squares each with £120,355.07 written beneath, adding up to the £49,827,000.
Edition of 88. Giclee with screenprint varnish on Fabriano 5 paper, all edges deckled.
Signed and dated in pencil lower right by the artist, numbered lower left.
