Norman McBeath explores what he terms “the extraordinary nature of the ordinary” in an image of elemental power, captured in Co. Mayo, Ireland, in 2015.
McBeath is fascinated with the beauty of the commonplace, and seeks to explore finer details of the landscape. He says, “I’ve always thought it important to look carefully at things, and to slow down when giving them extra attention. At a slower pace elements, traces, clues to what has happened and what is happening begin to reveal themselves – context slips away in favour of pattern and form.”
