In this print the artist used soft ground to impress a piece of upholstery onto the copper plate. When etched it created a tattoo-like texture on the figure’s body. Vinalhaven Press, located on Vinalhaven Island in Maine, USA,  published Alison Saar’s first prints in 1993 and 1994, which are documented in “In Print: Contemporary Artists at the Vinalhaven Press” a catalog published to accompany their retrospective exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art in 1997. The available impression is one of four signed Printer’s Proofs.
