Additional Information: This original lithograph in colours is hand signed in pencil “E. Ruscha” at the lower right margin.
It is dated “1969” next to the signature.
It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 20, at the lower left margin. There were also 3 artist’s proofs aside from the standard edition.
It was printed and published by Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Los Angeles.
The paper bears the blindstamp of the publisher in the lower right corner.

Other impressions of this work can be found in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the National Gallery of Art, Washington.

The Artist

Ed Ruscha

American artist Ed Ruscha is a pioneer of the 1960’s Pop Art movement known for his signature ‘word paintings’, which incorporate text with images of landscapes. Ruscha studied art in Los Angeles after moving from Omaha, Nebraska in 1956 where he explored a variety of media including painting, collage, printmaking, photography and drawing. His work conflates many influences from Jasper John’s Target with Four Faces (1958), to Pop Artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. His renowned piece OOF, encapsulates popular culture, cartoons and comic strips he drew upon.
