In 1993, Bernard Rival and Bénédicte Vilgrain of Théâtre Typographique (TH.TY.) approached us to create lithographs to accompany a text by Mallarmé in one of their books. She has a unique, unconventional way of approaching creation: the discussion is digressive, never focusing on composition, motif, or material, and instead follows parallel paths, drawing on unexpected ideas. In 1995, we embarked on several projects, most often using unconventional materials such as metal or baking paper, and in a wide range of formats, from intimate to monumental.
