A new edition by Katia Santibañez printed and published by Lower East Side Printshop. In 2022, Santibañez made the decision to return to the grid, using only the spiral image– a subject she has embraced and explored since 2012. Continuing to explore the interactions of colors, the artist wanted to reintroduce the idea of repetition and variation, which she associates with chaos and order. In each square sits a spiral, each with a different direction and a unique shape. They are their own character and energy. She chose two colors, one for the edge of the plate and the other for the center. The printing technique à la poupée worked perfectly to blend the two colors, creating a place of wonder, a place where the viewer is mesmerized and invited to slow down and think.
