“Astroboy” by KAWS, a contemporary artist known for his fusion of art and commercial, leading to collaborations with high-profile brands to create items like toys and clothing. This limited edition work features the silhouette of the Japanese anime character Astro Boy, one of many appropriated media figures that reappear throughout KAWS’s body of work. In the print, the character’s figure is filled with amorphous blocks and strips of saturated color, and outlined in a bright orange. Referencing pop culture material, the artist’s background in street art and graffiti, as well as fragments of his own enormous oeuvre, “Astroboy”’s simplicity in form and content allows it to stand out remarkably. The print measures 14 ½ inches tall by 4 inches wide, and is signed and numbered by the artist.
