Arty-Fact: Markus initially took this photo of the sensual Cai for his GQ series Pinup 2000.
Haruki Murakami then used the image for the cover of his bestselling novel, Norwegian Wood. The book has been translated into English twice; the first time was in 1989, followed by a second translation in 2000, with the authorised version published outside Japan. It’s this 2000 version that featured Markus’ image on the cover.
