Peter Feldstein (American, 1942 – 2017), made many cliché verres, and used a similar approach to the photogravure prints he made in 1998 at Galamander Press (NYC). His tiny 4 x 4 inch drawings on translucent film were used as negatives and enlarged to produce the photographic positives for this series. Evidence of crackling, blotting and the artist’s fingerprints can be seen in the prints.
“#526” is included in the exhibition “Just Above Midtown: Changing Spaces” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the exhibition’s catalog. The print is therefore unavailable until the exhibition ends in February 2023.
