This poster was produced in 1973 to promote a Richard Hamilton’s exhibition at the Davison Art Center, Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, USA. The image reproduces ‘The Critic Laughs’, Hamilton’s 1968 assemblage featuring a comically oversized set of teeth cast in sugar, mounted onto the neck of the artist’s Braun electric toothbrush (he was a fan of Braun design director Dieter Rams.) This poster is not previously owned and has been stored in the archives of Petersburg Press since its publication.
