Vito Acconci’s (1940 – 2017) work is multi-faceted, including prints, poetry, performance works, bodyworks, installations, videos, and architectural installations.
Working at Graphicstudio in the mid-eighties, Acconci created one monumental etching and a series of three small etchings, employing conventional techniques as well as shaped plates and embossing.
People Mask, Red Mask, End Mask
The three mask etchings address sociopolitical themes in a context of plates cut to resemble variations on the “happy faces” of pop culture.
