Captain William Baillie, Irish, 1723-1810, Jan Uytenbogaert, the Goldweigher, after Rembrandt.  Etching and drypoint, printed on red paper, c.1765.  B. 281.  Initialed in the plate and inscribed “Scilicet improbe Crefeunt divitae”  Titled ad further inscribed, “in the ccollection of the Earl of Bule”  This may also be found in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.  Baillie is known as the best restorer of Rembrandts copper plates, as well asB.281 a master of copying them.
