Amze Emmons’ (Philadelphia, PA) prints explore disaster and refugee architecture, depicting these lonely, isolated spaces with a sweet and curiously cheerful color palate. A highly skilled printmaker, Emmons incorporates numerous media including etching, silkscreen, relief and stencil to create an odd juxtaposition of color, mood and cityscape which forces the viewer to question how the elements are representative of reality. Emmons states, “[our] nomad consciousness contributes to the sense of transience and dislocation.
