Original woodcut in black ink. Signed, numbered (17) from the very small edition of 30 and dated 1991 in pencil on the reverse by the artist. Total edition of 40 impressions (30 plus 10 proofs). Also annotated on the reverse ‘IV’ (No.4). From the series ‘Bearing Light’. Published by Okeanos Editions, 1990/1991 Los Angeles. Printed at La Paloma, 1990 Tujunga California. Superb impression displaying the texture of the wood grain. On cream Stonehenge paper. Excellent condition, unframed. Sheet: 496 x 572mm. (19 ½ x 22 ½ ins.) “BEARING LIGHT was a response to the physical act of printing: an image that leaves it's own trace of weight on the paper. I wanted to return to the origins of printing: wood ink and paper. Several of the prints carry the traces of the nails with which the wooden plates were assembled, similar to the cut-outs pioneered by Gauguin and Munch.”
