The Artist

Duane Slick

Duane Slick is a Meskawaki painter and storyteller of Ho-Chunk descent. He is known for his monochromatic paintings which have been described as “dream paintings whose aim is the exploration of matters spiritual, not physical.” In 1995 Slick began teaching painting and printmaking at RISD. He has lectured at colleges and universities across the country and he has taught at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
